How it all connects

Conflicts → Prices

Wars and blockades on key trade routes can drive up the price of oil, gas and food. That feeds into inflation – and into central-bank policy.

Monetary policy → Bitcoin

Interest-rate decisions, government debt and inflation determine what our money is worth. That is exactly where the debate about Bitcoin as an alternative to state money begins.

AI → Power

Chips, data centres and electricity have become geopolitical issues, for example through export restrictions on high-end chips. Whoever builds and uses AI gains influence.

Learn – explained simply

Geopolitics

What is geopolitics?

Geopolitics asks how location, resources, trade routes and alliances shape what states do. Example: straits like the Strait of Hormuz matter because a large share of the world's oil shipments pass through them – a conflict there also affects fuel prices in Europe.

Reading the news critically
  • Who is reporting – and how does the source know?
  • Do several independent outlets confirm it?
  • News or opinion? Quote or claim?
  • Telegram and X posts are flagged on the map: confirmed, partly confirmed or unconfirmed.
Who decides in the world?

The UN Security Council has five permanent members with a veto: the USA, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom. Alliances such as NATO and the EU, groups such as the G7, G20 and BRICS, and individual heads of state and government also shape the situation.

Bitcoin

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is digital money with no central bank and no company behind it, running since 2009. Its rules are written in open code that anyone can check. There will never be more than 21 million bitcoin. Miners confirm new blocks of transactions roughly every ten minutes.

Bitcoin vs. fiat money

Fiat money such as the euro or the dollar is issued by states and central banks; the money supply can be expanded. When prices rise (inflation), the same money buys less. Bitcoin has a fixed issuance rule, but its price is very volatile.

Bitcoin is not the same as “crypto”
  • There are thousands of other tokens; hacks, collapses and fraud are common there.
  • Red flags: guaranteed returns, time pressure, anonymous teams, celebrity promotion.
  • Never share your seed phrase (recovery words).
  • “Not your keys, not your coins”: if you don't hold the keys yourself, you only own a promise.
  • Not investment advice.

Artificial intelligence

What is a language model?

Assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok or Mistral are built on language models. They have learned from very large amounts of text to write sensible answers. They can be wrong while sounding convincing – so always check important facts.

Getting started with AI tools
  1. Pick an assistant – most have a free tier.
  2. Ask clearly: state your goal, the background and the form of answer you want.
  3. Follow up, ask for sources, check the result yourself.
  4. Never enter passwords or sensitive data.
Agents, MCP & co.

An agent is an AI that uses tools on its own – searching the web, editing files or writing emails. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools and data sources. The AI World Map sorts such tools by provider and topic.

Sources first

Every item links its source. Figures appear only with source and date.

AI-assisted

Research and summaries are AI-assisted. Mistakes are possible – when in doubt, read the source.

Verification flags

Social-media claims are flagged until reputable sources confirm them.
